Lincoln's Superhero Party

When Dong-Maria, Owner of the Fabulous Baby Donkie decided to throw a birthday party for her son Lincoln, the theme reached superhero heights!

Who’s party? Lincoln's Party

What is the theme? Superhero

Why this theme? Lincoln is really into Superheroes and loves dressing up as his favourites which include any of the Avengers, Batman and Superman. He loves watching the cartoons, reading about them, playing the toys and his room has a wall decals and posters of his favourite superheroes.

What were your favourite parts of the party? This was my first DIY party and I really enjoyed styling the party and putting together the desert table. I also really enjoy baking so making Lincoln's Batman cake was fun. Lincoln helped me the day before making the cupcakes and decorating his cake. I also loved see all the kids (big and little) dressed up.

What was your child’s favourite part of the party? Lincoln told me his favourite parts were the piñata and playing pass the parcel with his family. I could also see he had lots of fun playing superheroes with his friends.

Your tip for planning the perfect party: Pick a theme that the birthday boy/girl will enjoy. The party printables made it really easy to style and put together the elements of the party. Also be organised and prepare for the party in the weeks ahead. This could be shopping for party supplies or putting together the party decorations.

More details: Lincoln's Dad made the city backdrop mural for the Photo Booth as well as the red telephone booth. The party printables were custom designed by Nicole from One Magic Day. We wanted to recreate the comic book feel and incorporate Lincoln’s favourite colour red. I then put together the printables and styled the party myself. The candy bar was filled with lollies, chocolate, kryptonite green jelly, popcorn, homemade lemon cupcakes and a butter cake as the birthday cake.

Oscar's Secret Garden Party

Who’s party? Oscars 3rd Birthday.

What is the theme? Secret Garden Party

Why this theme? With his love of the outdoors, the perfect garden setting and his love of the colour red, the Secret garden party just fell into place

What were your favourite parts of the party? The dessert table was so much fun, the home made table and chairs gave the children the perfect place to eat in their secret garden themed costumes and the muddy creek was definitely a hit with the boys!

Your tips for planning the perfect party: Research Research Research - there is so much inspiration to be found online, it's hard not to have good ideas when it comes to themes and decorations.
When looking at games and entertainment don't forget the old favourites like pass the parcel - these are always crowd pleasers.
All of the guests received a book as a thank you instead of a lolly bag - we guessed they would be all sugared out by the end of the day!

Christmas Dessert Table

I love Christmas. Every year our family comes together for a hot roasted lunch with all of the trimmings, nibbles and drinks and who could forget the desserts!

Creating dessert tables is a passion and Christmas is the perfect excuse. I am not really a baker but love putting deserts together and making them look pretty.

For a back drop use Christmas fabric and coordinating ribbon and stretched it over a canvas. Secure it with thumb tacks and it becomes reusable and interchangeable from year to year, party to party. Reverse year and party

Cookies hung like glistening ornaments from a natural branch are an easy way to add height and depth to the table ensuring the backdrop ties with the bulk of the table.

Wrapped chocolates are effective and a simple way to bring a pop of colour to the table. Choose your favourite wrapping paper and ribbon and away you go.

Tie each element together with pops of your chosen colour and pretty little labels to match.

Karin's

Baby Shower

When when it was time to throw a baby shower for gorgeous mum to be Karin, the classic pink and blue colour theme was never on the cards. As Karin was leaving the sex of the baby as a surprise a colour scheme of white and silver was used. Sophisticated and elegance, with a touch of fun was the feel of the day.

Who’s party? Karin’s Baby Shower.

What is the theme?
Elegant white and silver.

Why this theme? Not knowing the sex of the baby, Mum to be Karin wanted the event to be gender neutral, yet still reflect the fun and magic of the new arrival. Wanting to steer clear of the pink/ blue and green/yellow colour schemes and the option of white and silver was the perfect choice.

Details Details Details... A handmade back drop, bunting and table runner were used to tie the party together. Fabrics for these were chosen for texture, colour and effect. The cake was classic and simple in the mum to be’s favourite flavour orange and poppy seed, allowing the beautiful wire cake topper to take centre stage. Ribbon and customized tags were used on cake pops, straws and food lables.

Your tip for planning the perfect party: It is the small details that pull the whole look together and really give a party the wow factor. By using complementary fabrics, ribbon and tags throughout, simple treats and objects turn into a polished integrated look.

Kay's Party

Your tip for planning the perfect party:
Keep the ‘theme’ simple. By choosing a few key colours and sticking with them throughout, it is easy to a achieve a polished look for your dessert table.

Milla's 3rd Birthday

Fairy Garden Party

When  Amanda Edwards, owner of boutique party shop ‘Invite Me’ (www.inviteme.com.au) planned to throw a fairy garden party for her 3yo Daughter Milla, the outcome was guaranteed to be nothing short of stunning! The pictures speak for themselves!

Here is what she had to say:

Who’s party? My daughter, Milla's 3rd Birthday.

What is the theme? Fairy Garden Party

Why this theme? The theme was inspired by Milla's love of all things "fairy" and her favourite colours pink and green. Milla loves dressing up in fairy dresses and looks for any excuse to pop on a pair of wings.

What were your favourite parts of the party? Fairy Sparkle entertained the little fairy guests and there was lots of dancing and magical games. Fairy dust and fairy ribbon wands were some of the prizes received and they brought delight to all the children.

What was your child’s favourite part of the party? Milla loved pass the parcel. The most simple games seemed to be the biggest hit.

Your tip for planning the perfect party: I used inviteme's printables range which helps theme your entire party from invitations right through to your take home treat bags. It takes all the pressure off trying to do it all yourself and guests will enjoy every gorgeous detail.

More details:  Parties seem to be all about the dessert table at the moment. Once you've chosen a party theme and colour(s), keep the table simple but beautiful with gorgeous cake stands or candy jars to give it that WOW factor.
